5/3 - 5/4/2010 - after work blitz - Wheaties & Jewlery !
Popped out on Monday after work down to the local riverfront park venue. Clad mostly, but was hunting for jewelry, digging lots of trash along the way. Same thing today, except I headed north to a 60'sish elementry school and took down some intersting finds - check it out !
5/5 & 5/6/10 - Clad to meet U
5/5 - at a favorite placerville elementry school for about 2 hrs after work. Clad and bingo, a beautidul little military button. 5/6 - Down at the riverfront park again, practicing the craft in the glorius sunshine. Found a strip of fresh grass I hadnt addressed, and behold - the clad coins appear.
5/7/10 - Friday in the park with the Doctor
I loaned my Whites Classic ID to my friend Evan (Doctor) Nordstrrom and we hit the parks on Friday afternoon to see what we could find in old Orangevale. Right away, Evan found a 50 Cent piece - after all the years I have been searchinng, never found one of these ! Anyway, it wa a good 3 hour or so hunt on Friday. Check it out !
5/9/10 - Happy Mothers Day (and a pass to jet out and get a quick hunt done !)
Happy Mothers day, and thanks to the moms in my family for allowing me to go out and poke around Tracy's older areas. So, after brunch I bee-lined out and over to old Banta, the podunk township on eastern edge of Tracy, thats where the old church is that I found that 36 merc at. Behind the old church is the Banta Elementry school. I'd have to say early 60's ish in age. Old, rock hard field in the back. Within 30 second, I found a dime, in crusty, hard as rock clay soil with crabgrass. Oh man, I thought, this is not going to be easy going. So I changed my digging approach and things got easier. In 3 hours I took down 53 coins, a watch, a 1973 50 cent piece (my first !), a toy car remnant, a 1946 wheatie, lots of 60's - 2k clad and a gold chain !!!!! Man what a day - what a site !
5/13/10 - Thursday - New Site Exploration - Hi Ho Silver !
Back in Sac suburbs again, this time back in old Orangevale. Checked out a new site for me - another old school, for a couple of hours after work. Its a huge venue, lots to search. Took a couple of passes in shady area's and found an interesting haul, including 22 clad coins, a 1951 Silver Rosie dime, a shoe-jewelry charm thing, a pewter jacket button (?) and the coolest toy hot rod yet ! check it out.
5/17 - 5/19/10 - Easing back into the field
After an extended period of no detecting, I popped back out oa few times, once to Bradford Park in Placerville - nothing but iron fragments under the turn - thats what the iron hunk is. Then, over to Orangevale again. Tested the park and grounds of Greenwood Elementry school, then ended at Palisades. Greenwood gave up a ring, alcatraz token and a bunch of older clad, and the arm is OK !
5/21/10 - Fairing Well in Fair Oaks
Friday at last. after work, headed down to Fair Oaks and tested the waters at Bannister Park. Nice park, but finds were all clad and nothing to special. Then returned to the elemetry school next to Federspeil park as the sun was setting and in about an hour took down a boatload of coins, including a dollar coin ! My first - a Sacajeweeya dollar ! From about 5-8pm, I took down 35 coins and some interesting artifacts. Check it out !
5/24 - 5/28/10 - This Weeks Finds
Hi there. Here's a lot for the week. Got a nice little silver ring this week, down at Henningsen Park up in Coloma. Got a wheatie penny on Friday in Orangevale. Not much, but then I havent had much time to hunt - busy at work !
5/29 - 5/31/10 - A Memorable Memorial Day Weekend !
Happy Memorial Day. I had a chance to get out a few times over the long holiday weekend. The all-finds picture shows 4 groupings of finds. From Right to Left, you get Rescue Elementary on Sat Morn for about an hour, the second from the right was today on Monday at Charles Brown Elementary in shingle springs, and then the last 2 groupings are all from El Dorado Adventist school. These 2 are new sites for me. Today at Charles Brown I found 2 rings and a boy scout kerchief holder thingy ! I also found an intersting button and a foriegn coin - i think mexican 10 peso coin? Its not pictured here cause I have it soaking in white vinerger right now. all in all, 70 coins, 2 rings, and other interesting artifacts on the weekend !
